Plans to build two new houses next to Kenilworth roundabout pulled

A planning application for two new homes right next to a busy Kenilworth roundabout have been pulled following multiple objections.
RichSmart Homes Ltd had applied for planning permission to build the two detached homes on a piece of land next to St John's roundabout.
Proposed to be built between the railway line and the houses fronting onto Warwick Road, the scheme would have seen two, three-bedroom houses created.
However, with multiple locals having objected, alongside the town council, the planning application has now been withdrawn from consideration.
In its objection, Kenilworth Town Council said: "It is considered the site is unsuitable for housing due to its proximity to the railway line and the areas previous flooding risk.
"The amenity of residents will be impacted.
"Members were particularly concerned to note the access and egress to the site onto the gyratory.
"In the absence of evidence that WCC highways have completed a traffic assessment, members wish to stress the risk and danger to all road users by creating a new exit onto this road, particularly for pedestrians and cyclists."

"The proposed development has been carefully designed, where possible, to ensure a successful juxtaposition between the existing mature trees and the proposed redevelopment," the original application to Warwick District Council said.
"The application site is sustainable providing access within easy walking distance to the extensive facilities of a prominent town," it added.
The land is currently undeveloped but has a number of trees on it - none of which would have been removed to make way for the houses.
