Town councillors have thrown their support behind the idea of bringing Lime Bikes to Kenilworth.

Kenilworth Town Council last week unanimously voted in favour of writing in support of the proposal to other local authorities.

The move comes after a private briefing to the council on the possible benefits of the scheme.

Lime Bikes - electric bikes available to the public to rent - are already in place in nearby Solihull as well as at the University of Warwick.

Nub News understands there are already around 700 Lime Bike account holders in Kenilworth already.

Speaking at last week's full council meeting, leader, Cllr Mark Stevens said of the briefing: "The engagement was really good and there was a really supportive feeling around this room that this was a good thing for Kenilworth and we should encourage it and support it.

"Hence the suggestion here that we approve by resolution to write to the principal authorities associated and give people the heads up that we support this initiative, that we think its good for Kenilworth and we would like to see it happen."
