Two new homes could be built right next to St John's roundabout, if plans are signed off by the district council.

RichSmart Homes Ltd has applied for planning permission to build the two detached homes on a piece of land between the railway line and the houses fronting onto Warwick Road.

Plans show the homes would each have three bedrooms and five parking spaces would be provided on the site.

The land is currently undeveloped but has a number of trees on it - none of which will be removed to make way for the houses.

"The proposed development has been carefully designed, where possible, to ensure a successful juxtaposition between the existing mature trees and the proposed redevelopment," the application to Warwick District Council said.

If the scheme goes ahead, protective fencing will be erected around the trees before any building works get underway.

The houses would be accessed by an existing access path off the roundabout.

"The application site is sustainable providing access within easy walking distance to the extensive facilities of a prominent town," the application added.

Electric vehicle charging points will be provided for each house.
