October Kenilworth news roundup: Hotel reopens, 620 new houses planned and new owner for 30-year-old lingerie shop

Here is a round up of the biggest stories from the news in Kenilworth this October.

Planning has dominated the headlines in Kenilworth this month, with a detailed application for 620 new houses and a primary school submitted to Warwick District Council.

Also in planning, a Burton Green house is set to be demolished and replaced by a swimming pool and six car garage with the owners planning to move into an existing outbuilding.

The Holiday Inn has reopened to customers once again, having been a Covid-19 quarantine hotel since late June. The Clock Tower Cafe at the bottom of the hotel will also reopen from Monday, November 1.

Undies Unlimited will continue its 33-year history with its new owner Lisa Gough.

Further news has come on the new three-weekly waste collection due to begin next August. WDC has announced its preferred contractor for the plans, but concerns have been raised by councillors over the transparency of the council's scheme.

Construction works have also continued on the A46 Stoneleigh Island meaning the lanes around the junction have been narrowed with a 50mph speed limit also in place for the next year.

The latest update on HS2 works near Kenilworth has been released by Kenilworth Town Council.

Volunteers are needed for this year's charity Christmas tree collection which aims to raise over £30,000 this year.

A new venue has been announced for The Kenilworth Show which is set to return for 2022.

The route has been announced for the Birmingham 2022 cycling road race which will take place in Warwick.

Kenilworth Sporting have continued their promising run of form in October and now are now firmly in the promotion chase in the Midland Football League Division Two.

Kenilworth Rugby Club narrowly lost out in their table-topping clash with Lichfield, but the march for promotion continues.

Kenilworth Wardens have shown impressive form in October and went into this weekend's clash with league leader RS Sports in second place.

Kenilworth Runners were in full force at the London Marathon.
