A detailed planning application has been submitted for up to 620 houses and a new primary school in Kenilworth.

The houses will be built on the land east of Glasshouse Lane around the Woodside Hotel and behind the development of the new Kenilworth School.

An outline application was approved by Warwick District Council in April, with this second application providing far more detail for planning officers.

The new 'reserved matters' application includes further information on road layouts, cycling provision, landscaping, appearance, refuse collection, parking allocation and bus stops.

The application will now be subject to scrutiny by planning officers and local authorities, including Kenilworth Town Council, before it is taken to the full planning committee.

WDC waste collection has already objected to the application on the grounds that many of the bin collection points indicated in the plans are too far away from the road.

At the beginning of September WDC announced that it was to invest £60 million in this development with its property partners Milverton Homes.

The site will include 248 affordable homes for the council built to zero carbon and 'national development space' standards.

The 77 acre site, which was already set out for housing in the local plan, will have access from a new roundabout on Glasshouse Lane and a new junction on Crewe Lane.

Developments will see Crewe Garden Farm's buildings on the site demolished to make way for the new houses.

The second part of this application comes just weeks after WDC approved plans for a separate development of 550 houses further along Glasshouse Lane.

The application can be seen in full here.
