The former Barclays bank in the centre of Kenilworth remains vacant over two years after the branch was closed.

The Warwick Road bank shut its doors to customers in January 2022, with Barclays saying only 15 customers used it exclusively.

The bank also said that cash deposits were down 59 per cent and counter transactions down 39 per cent in 2019-20 compared to 2017-18.

Since then the unit has been available to rent through Leamington Spa-based property agents EHB Reeves, but no takers have yet come forward.

Available to rent for £33,000 per annum, the town centre shop is described as "providing excellent retail accommodation".

The brochure adds: "The property comprises a three-storey former banking hall, providing excellent retail accommodation at ground floor with ancillary secure storage within the basement and additional offices, WC and kitchen facilities at first floor.

"The property does benefit from a small rear yard and pedestrian access."

The closure of the Barclays followed Kenilworth's Halifax shutting its doors in October 2021 and Nationwide reducing its opening hours to two days per week.

However, there is good news for the former HSBC further down the road, which is set to be converted into two new shops. Work is already underway on the major refurbishment project.

More information can be found on the EHB Reeves website.
