Kenilworth's Lloyds is set to close at the start of April, in the latest of a string of bank closures in the town.

Halifax, HSBC and Barclays have already been lost from the town centre, with Nationwide only open for limited hours during the week.

Lloyds was due to shut at The Square at the end of February, but the closure has now been pushed back until 2 April 2025.

The bank announced last year its Kenilworth branch would be one of 45 to be axed nationwide.

"Before we close any branch, we look at how our customers are managing their money and using the branch," Lloyds said at the time.

"Most customers are now using our mobile banking app, internet banking or calling us instead.

"This means they are using branches, including our Kenilworth branch much less.

"Because of this, we'll be closing our Kenilworth branch."

The company said transactions at the branch for personal customers are down 47 per cent compared to 2019 and down 57 per cent for businesses.

Just 511 customers reportedly visit in person on a monthly basis.

Warwick's branch is also set to close, meaning the town's nearest branch will be Leamington Spa.

However, work to open a new banking hub in Kenilworth are moving forward.

The set up - which will initially be in a temporary spot before moving to a permanent location - will allow residents to access all major banks in one place.
