An already-approved speed limit change on a busy Kenilworth road is due to be enforced soon.

Warwickshire County Council agreed to drop the speed limit on Crewe Lane from 50mph to 30mph earlier this year.

The local authority has also decided to effectively cut the road in half by building a 99-metre 'prohibition of motor vehicles' section outside Kenilworth Golf Club's entrance.

The latter part of the works will not start until Dalehouse Lane completely reopens from HS2 works and the new roundabout is built at the entrance to Stansfield Grove on Glasshouse Lane.

However, new 30mph speed limit signs will soon be installed on Crewe Lane.

An exact date is yet to be confirmed, but Nub News understands the works are imminent.

Speaking at the most recent Kenilworth Town Council meeting, Cllr Mark Stevens said: "Crewe Lane - after approval of the new 30mph speed limit, they are working to get the signs installed.

"They will come into force over the autumn time."

Just over £600,000 has also been ringfenced to pay for the works, with the money coming from local housing developers.

The local authority has until 10 December 2027 to start the works.
