A stretch of Kenilworth pavement which turns into a huge puddle whenever it rains is set to be ripped up and relaid.

The slabs outside Costa on Warwick Road have been a problem patch for a number of years, making it harder for shoppers to walk along that side of the road in wet weather.

After a long time chasing for a repair, Cllr Richard Dickson last week confirmed a fix is on its way.

"There is a design project that has been kicked off to address the part of the pavement outside Costa and Joe Richards Vegetables Shop that, as soon as it rains, automatically creates a massive puddle," he said. at last week's Kenilworth Town Council meeting.

"The county council have finally agreed at huge cost out of the delegated budget - notwithstanding the fact there are all sorts of utilities close to the surface - that they will get it dug up and relaid.

"Most of Talisman Square is privately owned which is part of the problem, but there is a bit owned by the county council.

"It is a nightmare for residents and visitors as soon as it rains. It has existed for years."
