Kenilworth's MP has praised the work of a local pub for its continued inclusion in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide.

The Old Bakery on High Street was included in the 2023 edition of UK's best-selling beer and pub guide at the end of last year alongside 4,500 other pubs.

The most recent edition celebrates the guide's 50th anniversary and is compiled by thousands of independent volunteers.

The guide is based entirely on personal recommendations made by local CAMRA members, which are reviewed by branches and editors.

And following a recent visit to the Old Bakery, MP for Kenilworth and Southam Sir Jeremy Wright said: "Congratulations to the team at The Old Bakery in Kenilworth for their continued inclusion in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide.

"The hospitality industry has had a tough few years with the impact of the pandemic and cost of living pressures, but we are lucky to have so many great places locally to enjoy good service and great beer."

The Old Bakery also featured in the Grand Tour's second lockdown special, 'Carnage A Trois', in December 2021.

As well as serving a range of cask and draft beers the High Street venue also has 14 guest rooms.

Following the inclusion in the guide last year, the pub posted on social media: "Another fantastic listing in the the CAMRA good beer guide!

"A lot of hard work goes into curating the beers we decide to host on tap and the effort we put into keeping our lines in excellent condition so that the beer is perfect!

"Pop in to try our latest selection… It changes every few days!"

Elsewhere in Kenilworth, The Ale Rooms was also included in the 2023 edition.

The guide also lists 13 breweries across Warwickshire - with three having closed in the past year.

An extra 11 pubs have been added to the guide from across the county bringing the total up to 48.

Sir Jeremy's visit follows the recent announcement that Stonegate Group - which owns the recently reopened Gauntlet - is set to sell 1,000 of its venues.

Elsewhere in the town the Cottage Inn remains closed and landlord Wells and Co struggles to find a new owner.
