Five local untrained artists are set to benefit from the 'Take 5' free beginner drawing course this summer.

Piloted by local artist and performance development organisation Coventry Arts Collective, the course will accept five creatives with no formal training, giving them the chance to learn from professional artists.

The course will start on Saturday, July 17 and run for seven weeks with a two hour in-person session on Saturdays and a weekly Zoom session on Wednesdays.

Each session the five artists will receive lessons from local professional creatives including Coventry artist John Yeadon.

The programme is supported by Arts Council England and Royal Leamington Spa Town Council.

Creative director Neil Bradley said: "If you've never had the chance to live out your dream to learn how to be a real artist in a safe and entertaining environment, then this is for you.

"We are interested in applications from artists who have not progressed through formal or traditional art training routes. Early career, younger artists and older untrained artists. We aim to gather a group of promising artists that represents a diversity of cultural perspectives and artistic practices in and around Warwickshire".

Requirements:

â— Take 5 is open to untrained artists living, working, studying or born in the CV postcode areas aged 16 and over. There is no upper age limit and older artists are very welcome to apply.

â— Applications may be also made via video or audio.

â— Workshops are delivered by Coventry Artist John Yeadon

â— Masterclasses are delivered by other professional local artists.
