The ruins of Kenilworth's Augustinian Abbey will reopen to the public as part of the annual Heritage Open Days Festival this September.

Running between Friday, September 10 and Sunday 19, the festival will see 40 local buildings open to the public to celebrate the history of Warwick district.

As well as the ruins in Abbey Fields, there will also be a Great Fire of Warwick Walk and guided literary and history tours of Leamington town centre and Leamington Station.

National Trust properties in the area, including Packwood House and Baddesley Clinton, will also be offering free entry at limited times during the festival, whilst green fingered residents can also look around Kenilworth's Odibourne allotments.

Following the much reduced 2020 event, chairman of Warwick District Council Cllr Neale Murphy has thanked the effort volunteers have gone to to make sure this year's event is a success.

"The council is pleased to have been able to support and coordinate the district's annual Heritage Open Days Festival once again," he said.

"I would like to thank the large number of volunteers who have given up their time to organise the fantastic range of activities taking place this year."

Further information and a downloadable guide are available on the Warwick District Council website.
