Here are the biggest Kenilworth planning stories from the past week.

Woodside to be Demolished

Prior approval to demolish the Woodside Hotel has been granted, despite a last gasp attempt by locals to save it.

A petition to save the former mansion house was launched at the end of April, but Vistry Partnership has now been given prior approval.

A separate application to turn the site into 55 homes is yet to be considered.

Double Yellow Decision

More double yellow lines will be painted on Kenilworth roads, after plans were signed off by the county council at the end of last week.

Works on Clarendon Road, Glebe Crescent and Elmbank Road were signed off by the portfolio holder for transport and planning on Friday (April 28) following "multiple" complaints from locals about "obstructive parking" on the streets.

Some locals had called for permitted parking on the three roads, but a report discussed by councillors said none of the areas qualified for such a scheme.

HS2 Moves Footpath

A section of public right of way near Kenilworth Golf Club is set to be diverted for over two years to make way for HS2 works.

The high speed rail developer has announced that part of the Centenary Way (K29) will be moved from 15 May 2023 until 31 December 2025.

The footpath is being moved around New Kingswood Farm while construction between Dalehouse Lane and the A46 progresses.

New Football Stadium

The new owner of Coventry City Football Club has said he is committed to making the Coventry Building Society Arena the club's long-term home.

Stadium owner Frasers Group plc and Coventry City FC have announced a five-year deal to keep the Championship club at the north Coventry arena, having already penned a deal to keep the side there until the end of this season.

New owner Doug King said he was "delighted" to sign the agreement, adding the club will continue to work to strengthen its "longer term" home at the arena.

The announcement throws into doubt previously announced plans with the University of Warwick to build a new stadium as part of a proposed eco-park on the outskirts of Kenilworth.
