Here are the biggest Kenilworth planning stories from the past week.

Wetherspoon

Wetherspoon has announced that it will invest £2million in a new pub in Kenilworth town centre.

The pub giants have taken over at the former Poundland unit on The Square, and will now submit a planning application to Warwick District Council.

The company said it would create 60 jobs.

Castle Farm

Stunning aerial photographs have shown the extent of the demolition works at Castle Farm.

Work on knocking down the old recreation centre began at the end of June.

And photos sent to Nub News by Sam Leach show the quick progress the council's contractors have made.

Chapel to Houses

A former village chapel could be turned into a house if plans are approved by Warwick District Council.

Plans to convert the former Chessetts Wood C of E Church in Lapworth have been revealed, with the application saying it will "retain and respect the character of the existing building".

The Chapel Lane building stopped being a place of worship in the 20th century, being turned into a carpenter's workshop in the 1970's.

Flats on Car Park

A planning application to transform a Kenilworth car park into 44 flats and two new shops has been submitted to Warwick District Council.

Cobalt Estates has submitted plans for a four-storey block of apartments, with two new retail units on the ground floor, for Talisman Shopping Centre's car park.

A previous scheme to build student accommodation and retail units on the car park was granted planning permission by WDC in 2016, but the build did not go ahead "due to the changing commercial landscape".

Special School Could Become 25 Homes

Plans to demolish a local special school and replace it with 25 houses look set to be given the green light.

Coventry City Council revealed its plans for Woodfield Primary School in May, with the local authority wanting to build a much bigger SEND school at the former Woodlands Academy site on Broad Lane.

The council has also planned to knock down Woodfield's Hawthorn Lane secondary school site to make space for a further 129 houses.
