Kenilworth planning roundup: HS2, Wetherspoon and holiday pods

Here are the biggest local planning stories from the past week.
Dictum of Kenilworth
Pub giant Wetherspoon has been given the green light for the name signs which will adorn its new Kenilworth venue.
Warwick District Council (WDC) has signed off on planning permission for the new signs at The Square.
Plans show the windows will be etched with the name 'The Dictum of Kenilworth' alongside illuminated name signs and menu boards.
Pods Problem Persists
District councillors will once again take a vote on whether to allow a controversial holiday igloo to remain in Burton Green.
In December 2023 Warwick District Council refused a retrospective application for two holiday igloos on a parcel of land off Hob Lane, saying they harmed the openness of the green belt.
Now a fresh application for just one of the pods - which has already been installed - has been submitted, saying the second pod and a timber cabin will be removed from the plot.
HS2 Frustrations
Further frustrations have been expressed over a new driverless train which will carry thousands of people but will not be stopping inside Birmingham Airport.
The trains, called automated people movers (AMP) by HS2, will transport passengers between the new HS2 Interchange Station, Birmingham Airport, the National Exhibition Centre and Birmingham International Railway Station.
It is planned to carry more than 2,000 passengers per hour each way with services every three minutes in a journey expected to last just six minutes end-to-end.
