Kenilworth planning roundup: house appeal, 1,100 homes and HS2
By James Smith 4th Jul 2026
Here are the biggest local planning stories from the past week.
Bungalow Build
A bid to force through plans for a new one-bedroom 'self-build' bungalow in Kenilworth has been launched after council planners refused the application at the end of last year.
Warwick District Council refused to grant planning permission for the home to the rear of a property on Moseley Road, due to its impact on neighbouring homes and noise from the proposed air-source heat pump.
The application said the home was intended to be the applicant's "primary residence", but it drew an objection from Kenilworth Town Council.
1,100 Homes
The developer behind plans for 1,100 new homes between Leamington Spa and Kenilworth has set out a timeline for the project, after the first public consultation has now closed.
Locals had until mid-June to have their say on early-stage proposals for the land to the west of Kenilworth Road.
The site is shortlisted for inclusion in the new South Warwickshire Local Plan (SWLP), and is referred to as plot 'SG06' in the major planning document.

HS2 Hand Over
A local farm is set to have some of its land returned, seven years after it was taken by HS2.
The high speed rail developer took four parcels of land at Burnt Heath Farm, Offchurch in November 2018.
But plans submitted to Warwick District Council show the land has never actually been used by HS2 and has sat untouched since then.
