Locals are still waiting to find out when Dalehouse Lane will close for HS2 construction works, with the busy road expected to be shut for nine months.

Town councillors warned residents earlier this year that the route into Kenilworth would face a lengthy closure to allow for a new bridge to be built.

But an update presented at the most recent Kenilworth Town Council meeting said no firm date for the works has been confirmed by the high speed rail developer yet.

"Dalehouse Lane is expected to close for up to nine months to construct the overbridge," the report said.

"Closure is necessary because the site is too narrow to introduce traffic light controlled single lane passing.

"The work is scheduled to start this year, but no date is yet set."

The update followed a meeting between town councillors, HS2 Ltd, Balfour Beatty Vinci and Eiffage Kier BAM Ferrovial.

"There were two main things which came out of the meeting," said Cllr Adrian Marsh.

"The first was the planning application for the new compound along Stoneleigh Road and plans to expand that compound.

"And they also outlined a series of plans for road closures but did not give any firm plans yet."

Cllr Marsh warned members that the rail route between Coventry and Leamington, through Kenilworth, will also have to close at some point this summer due to the construction of a new bridge.

Again, a firm date was not given, nor were any details on the length of the closure.

The report also said locals had raised concerns about light pollution from compounds with lights being left on constantly and added that HS2 has agreed to explore possible reductions.
