The CEO of HS2 was given an insight into the impact of construction works around Kenilworth on a local visit, councillors have said.

Mark Wild visited Warwickshire to meet with local representatives and members of Kenilworth Town Council.

He is expected to return again in a year's time, having made "a number of commitments" on his trip.

Cllr Adrian Marsh told councillors: "Suffice to say the major news of the past few weeks is we met the chief executive of HS2 who came to learn and hear about the concerns of local communities.

"He outlined he would like to return in a year's time because he made a number of commitments.

"He understands the difference between being pragmatic and bureaucratic.

"It was a very positive meeting."

Councillors did not go into much detail on the commitments made.

Mr Wild did encourage the council and community groups to make further submissions for HS2 grants and funding for local projects.

Kenilworth Town Council members are also due to meet with a University of Warwick professor who is completing a research project on the impact of HS2 on local communities.
