Businesses along High Street are the latest to back the Kenilworth Advent Calendar which was announced by Rotary Club of Kenilworth last month.

The new fundraising initiative will see prizes given to five lucky winners on each day of December.

And now High Street businesses have contributed generously to make it all possible.

From Mike Vaughan Cycles, which donated a cycle light set, to Authentic Aesthetics and Classic Hair & Beauty, and to The Virgins and Castle, offering festive gin and £50 towards a meal, there will be a lot to choose from.

And if the run-up to Christmas is proving to be a bit of a strain, Warwick Physio and Rehab has donated a 30-minute physio session.

Some 120 prizes have now been donated from businesses across Kenilworth for the calendar which will go on sale on October 1.

Every calendar will carry its own, unique number and every day during Advent, from 1-24 December, five of those numbers will be selected at random to win the prizes listed for that day.

Calendars will sell for £5 each and the proceeds will go to local charities.

Zoe Myers of Authentic Aesthetics said: "What a great idea to give away prizes every day throughout Advent.

"We also see the benefit of getting our name in front of 3000 potential customers just before Christmas. Well done Kenilworth Rotary! This fundraiser works for everyone."

Speaking at the official launch event Mayor of Kenilworth, Cllr Sam Louden-Cooke, said: "Money raised by organisations such as Rotary contribute to addressing gaps that government funds don't stretch to."

The Rotary Club of Kenilworth is also seeking volunteers who would enjoy working on this and other initiatives. Individuals or businesses who would like to get involved should contact [email protected]
