Have your say on South Warwickshire Council proposals

Kenilworth residents can register their opinions on the proposed South Warwickshire 'super' Council.

Starting today (September 6), a consultation will give local residents, businesses and groups the chance to have their say on the possible merger between Warwick and Stratford District Councils.

The new council could see financial savings but could also reduce residents' political power as each councillor would be responsible for a much larger ward.

Residents have until October 24 to complete the questionnaire, with the results to be discussed by the two councils in December.

Leader of WDC Cllr Andrew Day has encouraged as many residents as possible to take part in the survey.

"As much as the pandemic has been a crisis for us, it has presented a challenge and an opportunity for us to re-imagine what local government services in South Warwickshire might be like in the future." he said.

"We need to hear your views – we need to listen and respond to what our residents want.

"Please take the time to carefully reflect on the questions, tell us what you think the future for local government in this area should be so that we can build a vibrant, new, agile and strong council to serve you."

More information on the proposed South Warwickshire Council can be found here.

The questionnaire can be found online here.

Paper copies can be requested by emailing: [email protected] or calling 01789 267575.

Copies are also available from Kenilworth Library.
