Ongoing frustrations about the number of road closures and the apparent lack of coordination over them has been fed back to the HS2 commissioner.

Kenilworth's county councillors recently met Robert Herga - the residents' and construction commissioner - to discuss the impact of construction works in Warwickshire.

Updating members at last week's Kenilworth Town Council meeting, Cllr Richard Dickson said: "He was very interested to hear about the longstanding issues we have with communications both from HS2 and BBV."

Cllr Dickson's feedback came after repeated statements of frustration from town councillors who have repeatedly called for more coordination around local road closures to ensure multiple routes into and through Kenilworth are not closed at the same time.

Last week's discussion came as Dalehouse Lane closes for 14 months and Cromwell Lane in Burton Green also closes for five months.

Cllr Adrian Marsh said: "HS2 continue to look at ways to improve the links within the town, however it is something that still causes concern.

"It is disappointing that Dalehouse Lane is still targeted for a 14-month closure.

"Hopefully HS2 will improve that and closures on other routes in and out of the town will be minimised.

"I have had no feedback with regards to improved coordination with the utility companies, housebuilders and Warwickshire County Council to ensure disruption from non-HS2 traffic is minimised.

"It is still a major concern across the town."

Councillors were also forced to criticise the communication over the Dalehouse Lane closure, with some residents receiving invites to a public information event after it was held.
