Town councillors are pushing for a new operator to be found for the café at Kenilworth Railway Station.

Cllr Richard Dickson told the most recent Kenilworth Town Council meeting that he had pushed operator West Midlands Railway to find a new vendor.

He said: "We are endeavouring to get West Midlands Railway, who lease the building from Network Rail, to change their attitude towards finding a suitable tenant for the ticket hall.

"This includes access to the toilet which is a real problem for visitors and the residents."

The café has been shut since 2023, with the previous occupants in place for around a year.

The ticketing hall was opened and closed on a daily basis by a member of WMR staff during the winter earlier this year to give members of the public a warmer place to wait for trains on a trial basis.

A WMR spokesperson said: "We are aware of local interest in reopening the station buildings in Kenilworth.

"The station was reopened on a trial basis at the start of the year, however it was subsequently closed due to vandalism and anti-social behaviour.
