Kenilworth's MP has applied for funding to have a number of foldable bikes made available at Kenilworth Railway Station.
If approved, the scheme could see Brompton Bikes set up a hire scheme at the station.
Sir Jeremy Wright has thanked the support of a number of local groups and councils for their help in submitting the bid to West Midlands Railways.
He said the scheme would allow people to "explore not just the town, but the wider area" in a more sustainable way.
"It is important how people access Kenilworth and the surrounding area from this station," the Conservative MP explained.
"And that is why I have been so keen to promote the idea that people can borrow or rent a bicycle from the station and use it to travel onwards."
He added: "I have made a funding application to West Midlands Trains in partnership with Warwickshire County Council.
"We would like to bring bikes available to hire to Kenilworth Station so that those who come to the town can travel on in a sustainable way.
"I'm grateful that this application has the support of Warwick District Council, the Bicycle Mayor for Warwick District, Kenilworth Town Council, Sustrans, Heart of England Community Rail Partnership and Kenilworth Station Recovery Group."
Sir Jeremy did not indicate how many bikes would be provided, or how they would be stored. But schemes at other stations across the UK have seen solar-powered bike docks installed with space to store eight bikes.
No timeline has been given on when the application will be decided.
The MP added: "We currently have a shuttle service that runs between Nuneaton and Leamington.
"And what I hope, and I'm sure you hope too, is that we will in the future be able to have more route options, more destinations from this station."
