The University of Warwick is celebrating its 60th anniversary in style with a "bold, neon-infused legacy project" created in partnership with artist David Speed.

The project will see a "striking large-scale mural" created on campus.

David will also run interactive masterclasses, a keynote speech in the award-winning Faculty of Arts building, and a visit to a local school.

He will also record an episode of his #1 podcast, Creative Rebels, on site with special guests from the creative community.

David Speed is famous for creating art installations in bold, fluorescent colours and has painted murals across the globe.

Currently one of the most recognised creators in the UK's contemporary art scene, he has been commissioned to create pieces for MTV, Nobu, Fortnum & Mason, and Shaquille O'Neal.

David is no stranger to the local area; he previously painted the inspiring 'Hope' mural on Tower Street as part of Coventry's In Paint We Trust project during the 2021 City of Culture celebrations. His work is already woven into the artistic fabric of the region, and this project is about elevating that connection.

"I'm looking forward to returning to Coventry for my Retreat to Create residency," said David Speed.

"I see this project as a true collaboration, not only with The University of Warwick, but with the wider community.

"My work, at the core, is about light and I've learned that you find light by exploring new paths and collaborating with many different kinds of people."
