Below are the key Kenilworth planning applications recently received or discussed by Warwick District Council.

Abattoir's environmental impact

Planned expansions to an abattoir on Rouncil Lane have raised environmental concerns from local councils.

Warwickshire County Council's landscape team, ecological services and Kenilworth Town Council have all raised concerns about the impact of the plans.

Problems range from the removal of trees, to the visual impact the new development will have.

13 new housing sites

As many as 13 possible new housing sites have been put forward for the new south Warwickshire local plan.

A survey put out by Warwick District Council brought back nearly 555 sites for development across the area, with green belt locations across Kenilworth suggested.

See the application here.

Extension objection

Kenilworth Town Council has objected to a two storey side and rear extension and loft conversion on Littleton Close.

Members said the extension was "inappropriate" in size and would involve "changing the character of the

established streetscene". The application already has nine other objections to it. See the application here.

Objection to bungalow's build

Kenilworth Town Council has also kept its objection to a bungalow's extension saying it would have "a seriously detrimental effect on both the amenity of neighbouring property and the character of the established streetscene". The council had initially objected to the application in October, but has maintained its position even after revised plans were submitted. See the application here.

Gigafactory green beacon

Local Green Party councillors have called on the developers of the recently-approved West Midlands Gigafactory to make it a "an outstanding beacon of our sustainable future". Green councillors welcomed the plans but said more could be done to "create a facility that not only delivers the batteries needed by the motor vehicle industry but is also as green as possible in construction and operation".
