Kenilworth hair stylist buys salon she first worked in as a teenager

A Kenilworth hair stylist has taken over at a salon she did her first work experience in some 19 years ago.

Alice Harris is the new owner of Court Creative in Millar Court - a shop which has been a hairdressers for over 30 years.

Mother of one, Alice worked in Court Creative aged 15 during her school work experience, and has been a hair stylist her whole professional life.

"It seems to have gone full circle," she said.

"I'm not sure if I thought it would happen this soon, but it came on the market and I absolutely love working there.

"The position of the shop in the courtyard is lovely, all the people that work in the other shops are all so friendly, I couldn't let the opportunity pass me by really."

Alice, who returned to Court Creative as a self employed stylist 18 months ago, signed the forms to buy the shop on January 6 2022, just weeks after the property first went on the market.

She is now looking forward to taking the first steps in running her own business.

"I'm nervously excited really," she added. "I just keep telling myself that it is no different to how it has been for the last 18 months.

"All of the customers are so lovely, they have really helped with the transition."

But Alice is not looking to start changing things or massively rebrand.

"The salon has been there since 1990. It has been a good business for the two previous owners, so I am not going to go in there and start ripping things apart because it is great the way that it is.

"That is the benefit of me being there 18 months, I already know what works."

And as she gets off the ground, Alice is already looking for experienced stylists to come and work in Court Creative on a rent a chair basis.

"I am looking for some experienced stylists to come and start working here, I want to get the place really bouncing," she said.
