Soft Tissue / Sports Massage Therapist A Soft Tissue / Sports Massage Therapist specialises in using massage techniques to treat muscular pain, tension, and injury.
They work with athletes or individuals with soft tissue-related issues to help improve movement, reduce pain, and promote recovery. Job Title: Soft Tissue / Sports Massage Therapist
Reports To: Practice Manager
Responsibilities:
Assessment & Treatment: Conduct thorough assessments of clients' musculoskeletal health and discuss medical history to identify areas of tension, injury, or discomfort.
Develop personalised treatment plans based on assessment findings and client goals. Apply a range of massage techniques, including deep tissue, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, and other specialised methods to treat soft tissue injuries, pain, and stiffness.
Rehabilitation Support: Assist clients in their rehabilitation process by promoting recovery through massage techniques that reduce inflammation, improve circulation, and release muscle tension.
Client Education: Educate clients on posture, ergonomics, stretching, and self-care practices to prevent future injuries and promote long-term muscle health.
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed client records, including treatment plans, progress, and any recommendations for future sessions.
Collaboration: Work with other healthcare professionals (e.g., physiotherapists, chiropractors, fitness trainers) to ensure comprehensive care and treatment for clients.
Continuing Education: Stay current with the latest techniques, research, and trends in sports massage therapy and soft tissue care.
Qualifications:
Education & Certification: Accredited certification in Sports Massage Therapy, Soft Tissue Therapy, or a related field (e.g., diploma or degree in massage therapy) to Level 5 or equivalent, although applicants with Level 4 with good work experience should also apply.
Evidence of membership to the Sports Massage Association is preferable.
Experience:
Proven experience in providing sports or soft tissue massage therapy, particularly with athletes or active individuals.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of anatomy, biomechanics, and musculoskeletal conditions.
Excellent hands-on technique and ability to tailor treatments to individual needs.
Strong communication skills to interact effectively with clients and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.
Physical Stamina: Ability to work long hours, including standing or sitting for extended periods, while performing physical treatments.
Working Environment:
Location: Private Practice, Kenilworth
Schedule: Flexible, including evening or weekend hours to accommodate clients' needs.
Expected Outcomes: Improved mobility, reduced pain, and faster recovery for clients with soft tissue injuries.
