Position: Senior Engineer Location: Site-based - Coventry, Burton Green Hours: 07:30-17:30 Contract Type: Permanent Salary: 70,000 + 5,000 car allowance

A leading civil engineering contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to join a major infrastructure project based in Coventry (Burton Green). This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled civil engineer to step into a senior role with site leadership responsibilities and long-term progression potential.

Key Responsibilities:

The Senior Engineer (Sub Agent level) will take a hands-on leadership role across a critical phase of the project, managing a small team of engineers and driving technical delivery across the site.

Key duties include:

  • Team Leadership: Leading and mentoring site engineers to ensure works are delivered in accordance with the design, quality, safety, and environmental standards.

  • Technical Oversight: Bringing strong experience in heavy reinforced concrete structures and earthworks to manage complex engineering elements.

  • Site Execution: Supporting day-to-day construction operations, ensuring activities are delivered to programme, within scope and budget.

  • Problem Solving: Identifying and resolving technical issues on-site, liaising with the wider project team as needed.

  • Documentation & Planning: Preparing key project documentation and contributing to short-term planning and sequencing of works.

  • Cover for Agent: Taking ownership when required in the Agent's absence, including responsibilities such as procurement, order control, and programme management.

Required Experience & Skills:
  • Demonstrable background in civil engineering with a strong focus on reinforced concrete and large-scale infrastructure projects.

  • Proven experience managing and mentoring site engineers.

  • Strong technical ability with a proactive approach to on-site problem solving.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with project stakeholders, subcontractors, and the client team.

  • Experience working to Tier 1 contractor standards for health, safety, environmental and quality compliance.

Qualifications & Certifications:
  • Degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or related discipline.

  • SMSTS or SSSTS, Temporary Works Coordinator/Supervisor, Lifting Appointed Person, Utilities Appointed Person, and First Aid qualifications are desirable.

  • Professional memberships (e.g. ICE, IEng) are advantageous but not essential.

Technical Proficiency:
  • Confident in the use of AutoCAD, Office 365, and cloud-based project systems.
