Kenilworth's Sarah-Jane Perry has been selected for Team England's nine-strong squash team for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

World number six, Perry claimed silver at the 2018 games in Gold Coast after losing to New Zealand's Joelle King in the final.

She will join current Commonwealth Games gold medallist James Willstrop in a Team England squad that contains six former games medallists and three debutants.

"It's awesome to have the official confirmation and it feels amazing to be selected," said Perry in a statement on the Team England website.

"It's been a very strange couple of years so it has been brilliant to have the games to focus on. I'm really looking forward to it and I'm fully focused.

"It's a very similar landscape to last time in terms of how the rankings are panning out so I'll be doing everything I can to beat the one that performs the best.

"We've got a good chance in the doubles so we'll be hyper-focused on landing a gold medal."

As well as winning silver in 2018, Perry also finished fourth in the women's doubles with her and parter Laura Massaro losing 2-0 to Australia in the bronze playoff.
