Kenilworth Rugby Club's first team manager has said the club's 'special season' has been down to the 'fantastic support' all the sides have received both home and away this campaign.

The men's first XV secured promotion to the Midlands Premier division last weekend with a 43-17 victory over Sutton Coldfield and the Kens will host Hereford at Glasshouse Lane in their final home game of the season this Saturday.

"The past two years have been really tough at times during the pandemic, and I'm immensely proud of our players for the way that they have stuck to the task," said mens first XV manager Adam Turner.

"Their commitment hasn't wavered at any point in what have been pretty uncertain times, so to be able to celebrate a promotion, a league win and a cup win is pretty special.

"What will make it even more special is if we can again call and bank on the fantastic support that we've enjoyed this season on Saturday against Hereford, and for the #kenfamily to come down and help us celebrate the season's success."

The Kens also reached the final of the Warwickshire First XV Cup Final, losing out to Nuneaton

Kenilworth Women have also had a strong season, comfortably maintaining their place in the Championship North, having been promoted to the division last season.

Whilst the Mens second XV clinched their Warwickshire One League title last weekend, to sit alongside their Warwickshire second XV Cup win earlier in the season.

Mens Head Coach, Phil Boulton, said: "The squads as a whole have achieved so much this season, and it's been really satisfying to see the men finally gain promotion at first XV level to Midlands Premier, and also our second XV enjoy so much success in winning their League and retaining the Warwickshire Cup; a fantastic double!

"The support that we've received at home has meant so much to the players, and it certainly got us over the line in the recent narrow victory over Stoke, which effectively helped us secure second place and promotion.

"Saturday will be no different in terms of us needing that support, ensuring that we finish the season strong and overcome the tough test that Hereford always provide."

Kick off for the 1st XV is at 3pm at Glasshouse Lane on Saturday, with the 2nd XV taking on Spartans away, also at 3.00pm.
