Saturday's top of the table clash against Stoke-on-Trent provides a 'golden opportunity' for Kenilworth to strengthen their grip on the promotion places, according to first team manger Adam Turner.

The Kens welcome second-placed Stoke to Glasshouse Lane as they look to close the two point gap between the two sides in the Midlands One West.

Kenilworth, who are currently third, have a game in hand over this weekend's opponents and have already beaten their rivals away from home this season in a well-fought 17-13 victory that was fiercely contested right up to the final whistle.

And with his side looking to record their ninth home victory in the league this season, Turner has called for a big crowd to show their support.

"Our first XV have had a really successful season so far, reaching the Warwickshire Cup Final, where we narrowly lost to higher league opposition in Nuneaton, and also going well in the league," he said.

"Saturday offers us a golden opportunity for us to further strengthen our claim for promotion to Midlands Premier level which remains our priority, sitting just behind our visitors, Stoke-on-Trent, in the table.

"We're playing some really exciting and expansive rugby this season, and one of the main reasons for that is the incredible support that we have at home.

"We'd therefore again ask that as many of the town and our extended #kenfamily as possible, to come down and support us this Saturday as they have so brilliantly on many occasions, as there's nowhere quite like a rocking Glasshouse Lane to give the boys on the field a major boost!"

Since then Kens travelled to beat Stoke in early February they have lost just once - a narrow 26-22 home defeat to Newbold.

Both sides having lost just three games each all season.

And with just five games left to secure a second place finish, talismanic Kens skipper Bobby Thompson echoed Turner's call for support.

"The whole squad love playing at Glasshouse Lane; it's a great place to play, and the vocal home support has got us over the line on so many occasions," he said.

"We could really do with that help again this Saturday, as Stoke will be a tough challenge as they always are.

"Our supporters are fantastic, and we've always been able to call on the town to come down and get behind us in key games like this, and Saturday is no different!"

Kick off is at 3pm, at Glasshouse Lane.

The successful 2nd XV also continue their campaign on Saturday, making the long trip to Melbourne in Derbyshire in a friendly return fixture that saw them triumph at home 33-26.

With the Warwickshire 2nd XV Cup already in the bag, they will look to hold onto top spot in Warwickshire One from now until the end of the season, as they strive for league and cup success.
