The "unplayable" Dan Twigger bagged a hat trick as Kenilworth Wardens got back to winning ways by putting four past Jet Blades.

Having been knocked out in the first round of the Stan Oulds Cup by Jet Blades last season, Wardens got their own back on Sunday with a resounding win which also saw Harrison Wright come off the bench to get on the scoresheet.

The hosts started strongly, keeping the ball well, and were rewarded with a penalty on 15 minutes when a long ball into the Kenilworth box saw Alex Bradley collide with a Jet Blades striking as he tried to cover.

The penalty was a bizarre affair, Blades' player took a full minute after the whistle was blown just staring at Tom Day in goal. Then when he started his run up he did what can only be described as slow high knees before tamely passing into the corner where Day made an excellent save.

Jet Blades' embarrassment was compounded moments after when Wardens took the lead.

A counter attack started when Alex Waters won the ball in the box and played to Sol Bloomer. Bloomer turned and played to Adam Hnat just inside the Blades half.

Hnat ran to the byline before beating two Blades players and crossing perfectly to the back post for a simple tap in for in form Twigger.

Wardens thought they had added a second moments later.

An Eamonn Richards free kick was was excellently met by Hnat at the back post with his header rocketing against the crossbar. As the ball came back, both Twigger and James Brewitt attempted an overhead kick, both players hitting the ball at the same time to put it in the top corner. However this was inexplicably adjudged to be offside.

Wardens did get the second goal they deserved on 30 minutes.

A quick Richards free kick on the half way line was played to Hnat. Who dribbled from the right hand side past four players ending on the edge of the box, playing a pass to Twigger 18 yards out to sweep into the bottom corner for his second of the game and Hnat's second assist.

After an uneventful 20 minutes of the second half Wardens got a third.

A Bloomer cross was met by Twigger, he helped the ball onto the back post where Wright challenged the Blades keeper.

The keeper got there first but spilled the ball into Wright's feet for him to round the and slot in from an incredibly tight angle for his first of the season.

Blades pushed for an equalizer and twice came close following errors from Wardens' defence but both times they failed to hit the target with their close range shots.

Frustration got better of Blades when one of their players was sent off with 10 minutes to go for foul and abusive language towards an official.

Wardens got their fourth when a counter attack was played to new signing Hamza Alaeddine who beat his man before squaring to Twigger. The in-form striker took the ball wide before slotting past the keeper for his hat trick and 10th goal in past five games.

"Performance wasn't great today at all, too sloppy all over," Richards said after the game.

"But we needed a win today and was great to get one. We're still a new young side whom need to improve.

"Penalty save from Tom and clean sheet we're both huge. He's had a good start to his first team career and deserved that today.

"Twigger is obviously unplayable at the moment and Adam assists for those two goals were unbelievable. Bradley was also great at centre back."

Meanwhile Wardens Reserves drew 3-3 with Central Ajax Reserves in Adam Maltby's first game back as manager.

A brace from Harry Bleacher in the first half and a goal from Rhys Palmer put Wardens 3-0 up, however a late comeback from Ajax gave both teams their first point of the year.
