Kenilworth Wardens Sunday side travelled to HRI Wellsbourne Reserves to carry on their unbeaten start to the season.

Wardens started the better side, controlling possession and creating three chances, which were defended well by Wellsbourne.

On 25 minutes Wellsbourne went 1-0 against the run of playwhen a long ball wasn't dealt with well by the wardens defense, ball fell to the Wellsbourne right mid, who played a great ball into their striker to smartly finish.

On 27 minutes Wellsbourne added to their lead when a defense mix up led to James Carro scoring an own goal from a header pass back.

It went from bad to worse on 30 minutes when Wellsbourne scored a third, after a poor defensive clearance led to Wellsbourne's centre mid passing into an empty net from 25 yards out.

Wardens rallied and the introduction of Kev Greenhill up front had an immediate impact.

A long throw from Tom Holmes was flicked on to James Carro who slotted home to make it 3-1 before the break. Greenhill was booked before half time for a late challenge.

Wardens looked the better side after the break and immediately scored a second, when another Tom Holmes long throw was flicked on by Kev Greenhill before being slammed in by James Carro for his second goal of the game.

However, controversy happened at 60 minutes, after the Wellsbourne player was only yellow carded after kicked out at the Wardens right back off the ball, Wardens were then down to 10 men after Kev Greenhill put in a second bookable offense.

Wardens continued to push for an equaliser with 10 men and got their reward when a Tom Holmes corner was turned in from a Wellsbourne player.

Both Wellsbourne and Wardens pushed for a winner, with Josh Loan-Clarke hitting the crossbar from a Eamonn Richards corner on the 80 minute and a world class save by Goalkeeper Eddie Morris in the last five minutes to deny the Wellsbourne striker volleyed effort

Speaking after the game manager Paddy Breslin said: "We had to adapt our game to the pitch a little. Individual mistakes have cost us a better results but they happen. We're delighted to remain unbeaten."
