Kenilworth Wardens' new Sunday side played against Wellsbourne in the last preseason friendly before the season starts.

Wellsbourne controlled possession from the start, passing the ball well but not troubling Eddie Morris in goal.

Wardens scored their first when Alex Waters crossed to Andy Legg, whose headed nod found Roger Kingston.

Kingston hesitated with his shot, but eventually lifted the ball into the net on his second attempt.

Wellsbourne continued to press for an equaliser, but were continually stopped by Wardens' shape, work rate and the exceptional Pablo Scope and captain George Walker.

As the game stretched, Wardens hit Wellsbourne with a counter which led to normally goal shy Isaac Bloomer beating three men and slotting the ball with the outside of his foot into the corner of the goal.

The 2-0 victory will mean Wardens go into their first competitive match full of confidence.
