Kenilworth Sporting made it back to back wins as they beat Lane Head 2-1 in the first away match of the season.

With nine regular squad players not available Sporting were thin on the ground with experienced players to make the trip to Walsall.

Despite the unsettled prematch, Kenilworth's nerves were calmed on seven minutes when when Alpha Wurie skipped his marker and from just inside his own half caught the keeper out with a cross come shot that floated into the back of the net.

The goal gave Kenilworth confidence and they continued to attack the Lane hHad goal but the keeper was determined not to beaten again pulling off a string of fine saves.

On 34 minutes a sublime corner delivery from Sam Khan found the head of Dave Freeman and his header beat the keeper to make it 2-0.

On 42 minutes lane Head we're given a penalty, to everyone's surprise including Lane head, which was calmly slotted home.

The second half was about game management and Kenilworth's young inexperienced side did just that.

Lane Head were kicking down the slight slope and at times Kenilworth had to resort to last ditch defending.

New signings Sean Wills and Mason Platts were impressive after taking the step in to men's football.

Manager Martin Ascroft was delighted with the result, and with the impact of the new men. He said: "Many thanks to Coventry Utd in helping us the dual signing of Sean Wills and another thanks to Rugby Town Academy for there assistance in making Mason Platts a Kenilworth Sporting player."

Kenilworth's next fixture is a tough game on bank holiday Monday when Boldmere Falcons visit Gypsy Lane.
