Kenilworth Sporting put four past Southam to come from behind and reach the semi finals of the Coventry Charity Cup
Kenilworth started the game brightly and played all the football with some neat passing and excellent attacking play out wide.
With Southam pegged back in the early exchanges it didn't take long for Kenilworth to find a way through the Southam defence.
On 15 minutes the pacy Harry Willis managed to keep the ball in play after the Southam defence hoped it would go out for a goal kick. His cross found Tyrone Wilson running in to pass the ball between the keeper's legs.
The wind that was blowing down the pitch was always going to play it's part and on 44 minutes Kenilworth gave the ball away in midfield and the busy Southam number 10 unleashed a shot from 35 yards and the ball went over Woodward in the Sporting goal to bring the game level again.
Having drawn level Southam began to play on the front foot.
On 60 minutes pressure from the home side saw Kenilworth lose the ball in defence which allowed the Southam centre forward hit a shot from 25 yards. The swerving effort caught Woodward out and the ball hit his body and looped into the Kenilworth net.
Kenilworth didn't panic and continued to stick to their game plan. With 20 minutes left Harry Wilson was on hand to tap in the rebound after a low Dave Gbehe free kick was fumbled by the Southam keeper.
Kenilworth were in the ascendancy now and with Southam looking tired the away side broke down the right and a cross from substitute Evans found Mason Platts whose header managed to squeeze past the unlucky Southam keeper to make it 3-2.
Five minutes later the tie was over when a left footed strike from Gbehe slipped through the diving Southam keepers arms and crept into the net.
Speaking after the game Sporting manager Martin Ascroft said: "In my opinion we made hard work of getting the result, both keepers had days they would rather forget .
"Southam are a big physical side who play to their strengths with big throws and set pieces which they overload the box with some big lads. I thought we dealt with that very well so to concede to goals from such distance was obviously disappointing for us .
"We are delighted to still be in the competition and look forward to seeing who we play in the semi final when the draw is made on the 20 December."
