Kenilworth Sporting bounced back from their previous defeat to Coventry Alvis with a win over third place Knowle.

The result leaves Sporting in fourth place on 43 points with just five league games remaining.

And with Kenilworth coming from behind to snatch all three points, manager Martin Ascroft was delighted with his team's second half performance.

"We were looking to put a very disappointing performance in our last game behind us with a win against high flying and consistent Knowle," he said.

"We made the worst possible start to the game and it looked like we were still licking our wounds for the first half.

"I won't take the credit for the halftime chat and the turn around in our form. My assistants Luke Hopkins and Dan Burke were very straight and honest with their points of view on the performance in the first half."

Kenilworth went behind on three minutes after a header from Knowles' George Seeley found the back of the net.

The hosts huffed and puffed for the remainder of the first half, but never really threatened Jack Tregartha in the Knowle goal.

Kenilworth were denied what looked to be a penalty when Kyle Jaynes jinked his way into the box and was clearly but the referee waved away the Sporting protests.

Having clearly been told a few home truths in the changing rooms at halftime the hosts came out fired up to put things right.

The front three of Jaynes, Harry Wilson and Jack Low caused Knowle's defence all sorts of problems and eventually the pressure told when Jaynes right-footed volley at the far post fired into the top corner.

Kenilworth were in the ascendancy and continued to dominate the second half.

And on the 80th minute they took the lead with Jayne's delightful lobbing the stranded Tregartha.

Kenilworth were not finished and five minutes later Wilson found the bottom corner with a well placed right footed shot to put the game to bed.

But with the result leaving Kenilworth still five points behind Knowle, Ascroft said there was still more to be done this season.

"We won't get carried away though, it's another three points as we look forward to next week's challenge, away to a tough experienced outfit in Hampton FC," he said.
