Following their narrow defeat to Upton Town last weekend, Kenilworth Sporting were looking for a reaction as they returned to their Gypsy Lane home ground yesterday to host Birmingham Tigers.

What a reaction it was.

A first half hat trick from Luke Steer took him to eight goals this season, and put the host side into an incredibly strong position going into the break.

Not to be outdone, joint top-scorer Tyrone Wilson then added a second half brace to make the scoreline 5-0 to Kenilworth Sporting, and bring his personal tally to eight also.

The win cements Sporting's position at the top of the Midlands League Division Three, with an impressive tally of 21 points from just eight games.

They lead the division by three points from Central Ajax, albeit the second placed side have a game in hand. Ajax saw off Inkberrow 4-2 yesterday, to move into second place.

Another bonus was that Manager Martin Ascroft was able to return to the touchline this weekend, following his double hip replacement.

Speaking after the game he said "I am delighted to be back in the dug out today and around my players and staff, we dominated the game from start to finish.

"It was a great reaction to last week's defeat, with five goals and a clean sheet. Looking forward to next week's home game against Continental Star FC."

Continental currently sit fourth bottom with just four points from their opening eight games
