Folly Lane inflicted a third straight defeat on a depleted Kenilworth Wardens Reserves

Wardens came into the game with a few absentees and injuries were greeted by a large following for the home side.

Wardens started much the brighter team putting Folly under real pressure in particular down the right hand side.

Whilst they didn't create any clear cut chances, Charlie Waters was able to put in three crosses of good quality which forced the Folly manager to make a change inside the first 15 minutes, subbing his left back much to the bemusement of some of the players and in particular the departing player who more than made his feelings known.

Despite a bright 20 minutes for the visitors, Folly did make the breakthrough when the usually reliable Ross Farquharson played a weak back pass to Charlie Stranks in goal and the striker clipped in a neat finish from the edge of the box.

Parity was restored moments later from the penalty spot after Alex Nwafor went down thanks to the defender having a hand full of his shirt, He duly got up and converted from 12 yards to make it 1-1.

Whilst Folly Lane started to see more of the ball the Wardens defence restricted the home side to long range efforts.

However Wardens were undone minutes before half time when what appeared to be a tame effort at goal from distance hit an awful bobble and hit Stranks in the face leading to a tap in for the striker.

Wardens pressed and probed in the second half and again through the lively Nwafor created a few chances.

The hosts continued to be restricted to efforts from outside the box but they ended the contest with a few minutes left when a simple throw in on the left made it's way to their striker who, on the half turn, swivelled and hit a rocket into the top corner from just under 30 yards.

But reserve team manager Adam Maltby was still pleased with the performance.

"We've turned up today with 12 players and I can't fault the lads at all, the effort and application was there to see and we've more than matched a team who probably had first and reserve players included," he said.

"On another day some of the chances we create go in and it's a completely different story. But that's football, we've two games back at home now after three on road and we look forward to those games and getting a few players back."

Elsewhere Wardens also had a friendly against Coventry Polonia - mainly as a trial game for new players.

Wardens won 7-4, with a hat trick from Ben Edmunds, a brace from Chris Lewis, and a goal a piece from Guy Pearson and captain James Butler.

Matt Nichols, Ray, Edmunds and Dan Twigger got an assist each, with Eamonn Richards getting two.
