A depleted Kenilworth Wardens side missing 19 regular players visited Coventry Phoenix in their second preseason game.
Playing against a back four which had never played together before, unsurprisingly Phoenix started the better of the two sides, scoring a well worked goal within five minutes.
Wardens slowly got back into the game, started to dictate play and looking dangerous with their front three of Toby Wells, Dan Twigger and Ben Edmunds.
Twigger equalised after 20 minutes, scoring his five goal in two games in preseason.
Isaac Bloomer won possession twice in the build up and squared to Twigger who stroked home easily.
On 30 minutes an unfortunate stumble by a Wardens player opened up the pitch and allowed Phoenix to score a second.
However Kenilworth reacted quickly, Luca Valle played through Twigger, who beat the keeper to the ball and was taken out in the process.
The referee gave a penalty and admitted that in a competitive game he would have sent off the Phoenix goalkeeper.
Captain Andy Legg sent the keeper the wrong way for his first of the game.
The game fell into a pattern of both teams playing good football, Wardens looking dangerous when going forward but not managing to meaningfully test the keeper and Phoenix forcing Wardens keeper Andy Whitehouse in a string of good saves.
Phoenix took the lead yet again after Wardens gave cheap possession away on the half way line the Phoenix midfielder ran through the Wardens team and chipped home.
From kick off, Valle played the ball to Edmunds who's excellent first tough took him into the box, beating the keeper first to the ball but being taken out in the process, won Wardens second penalty of the day.
Legg once again sent the keeper the wrong way for his second of the game.
Following the match first team manager Eamonn Richards said: "Considering the amount of players unavailable today and the completely new back four really happy with our performance. Everyone played well, minutes in the belt and hopefully some of the new lads brought in for this game will continue to play for us.
"It was a hot day with a decent established Premier side who were making a lot of changes to keep things fresh.
"I don't think I would have been disappointed to lose by a few today, so to draw and be slightly disappointed we didn't score more is a real plus."
