Four wickets from Tommy Rex and Nick Seagar's blazing unbeaten 84 hurried Kenilworth Wardens to an eight wicket win at Oswestry this Saturday.
The 18-year-old seamer sent Warwickshire's 2nd XI selectors yet another reminder by taking his seasonal wickets tally to 34 courtesy of the superb return of 4-27.
Then after the bottom-of-the-table hosts had been dismissed in 37.3 overs for 134, Seagar unleashed a violent batting onslaught which hurried the visitors to victory in just 21.2 overs.
The resulting 20 points leaves Wardens in the second promotion position with four matches of the season remaining.
And with a trip to table-topping Halesowen plus clashes with nearest challengers Wem and Barnards Green amongst their remaining fixtures, the Glasshouse Park club very much hold their destiny in their own hands.
After Rex claimed the prize scalp of Oswestry opener Warrick Fynn, the home side were soon struggling at 77 for five.
Two wickets apiece for off-spinner Neylan Chauhan and seamer Tom Mordey applied plenty of pressure to the home line-up – as did Wardens fielding which was led by Harry Johnson's four catches.
Wicket-keeper Ryan Lockley top scored for the home side with 26, but the return of Rex soon polished off the tail which left Wardens chasing 135 to clinch their ninth win of the campaign.
The first over dismissal of Keith Bell briefly raised home hopes, only for Seagar to promptly dash them with a typically ferocious onslaught.
His 66-ball 84 not out included five sixes and ten fours while the eight balls delivered by the unfortunate Sabarinathan Chandrasekar went for 25.
The powerful opener - who shared in half-century partnerships with second and third wicket partners Ali Zaryab and Johnson – remained unbeaten as Wardens strolled to victory in a contest which was over in little more than three hours.
