Kenilworth Cricket Club survived an early batting slump to claim a 55-run win over Nuneaton this Saturday.
Kenilworth found themselves on 5 for three and then 19 for four before they recovered to post 185 for 10 in the weekend's Warwickshire Cricket league Division One clash.
It was two crucial 60-run stands that saved Kenilworth's blushes as Stuart Cope hit 47 in partnership with Pat Howard who held firm to make a fine 58.
Joshua Biksas took 4-28 for Nuneaton whilst Thomas Neale and Liam Benn picked up a brace of wickets each
Hosts Nuneaton were then bowled out for only 130 thanks to skipper Joe Atkinson who claimed 4-17 from his fine 10 overs spell. Nuneaton struggled with the bat as well finding themselves on 30 for three and then teetering on the brink of defeat at 90 for eight as wickets tumbled all too regularly.
Matt Casey added 2-29 from his eight, with Cope and Steve Rhodes taking a wicket apiece before Darius Potten-Ravenshad took the final wicket to give Kenilworth a hard earned win with 10 overs to spare.
Kenilworth 2nd XI v. Coleshill
The Kenilworth second XI fell 14 runs short of Coleshill's 200 in a close match that could have gone either way.
Coleshill had Brown (51) and Yakoob (47 not out) to thank for posting their score.
Shyaan Imam took 2-34, Charlie Stranks 2-38 and Ben Clarke 1-37 for Kenilworth as only six wickets were claimed from Coleshill.
Chris Prophet opening for the Town added 56 whilst Stranks and Sam Leach added 40 runs in their eighth wicket stand. The side were eventually bowled out for 186 with seven balls to go as Yakoob took 3-32, Ali 2-31 and Hussain 2-56 for the victorious visitors.
Kenilworth 3rd. XI v. Norton Lindsey
Kenilworth secured an impressive 83-run victory over Norton Lindsey to extend their lead in the Cotswold Hills Cricket League Division Six table.
The Kenilworth batsmen were once again on song as they posted a fine 191 from their 40 overs, losing just seven wickets.
James Adamson made 46, Will Machin 35, Mark Stranks 25 and Vik Joshi an unbeaten 21 for the town side.
Norton could only make 106 for six in reply as they found Kenilworth's bowlers too accurate and hard to get away with only Richardson (46) and Hathaway (12 not out) reaching double figures.
Matt Dadswell was the pick of the Kenilworth attack taking 4-22 from his spell, whilst Josh Charlwood took 1-9 from his four overs and Adamson 1-6 as the side recorded another fine win.
