Kenilworth Cricket Club enjoyed a second consecutive clean sweep of wins this Saturday as the all three sides tasted victory.

The firsts and thirds enjoyed comfortable victories over Fillongley and Overbury respectively, whilst the second's one-wicket victory came right down to the wire.

Kenilworth 1st XI v. Fillongley

Kenilworth Cricket Club's first XI took a nine-wicket victory over Fillongley yesterday, as the Town side chased down the required 185 with 20 overs to spare.

Stuart Cope was the pick of Kenilworth's bowlers taking 3-42. Steve Rhodes added 2-47 with a wicket each for Joe Atkinson, Jack Howard, Connor Shingler and Sunil Kumar. Fillongley's tail got the side to their total with number 10, Morgan hitting 51 to reach a total of 185.

Kenilworth's keeper, Tom Booker, took three catches before he and fellow opener Atkinson put on 100 for Kenilworth's first wicket in reply.

Booker made a very fine 73 hitting 14 boundaries in his knock before it was left to Atkinson 55 not out and George Baines 43 not out to see the side to victory. The two easily reached 186-1 after putting on an unbeaten 86 together. The firsts recorded their second consecutive win of the League season.

Kenilworth 2nd XI v. Leamington Khalsa

A narrow margin of just one wicket separated Kenilworth and Leamington Khalsa yesterday, as the Town side snatched a victory in the final overs.

Leamington Khalsa 170-10 (6 points) (45 overs) lost to Kenilworth 174-9 (20 points) (49 overs) by 1 wicket.

The heroes of the match were Kenilworth's last wicket batting pairing of Charlie Stranks and number 11 Dave Gamble who came together with 12 overs of the match remaining. Kenilworth had found themselves in trouble on 145-9 chasing down Khalsa's score of 170.

However, the pair shared in an unbeaten 10th wicket partnership of 29 to somehow give the side victory in a topsy-turvey match.

Stranks hit 35 not out and Gamble 16 not out, as the latter secured victory by hitting a boundary for the side as they reached 174-9 with still six overs of the match remaining.

Earlier Jono Sparks had posted 34 and Henry Curran 33 for the side.

Batting first, Khalsa had Sheema (61) and Reddy (31) to thank for posting a good target score. This despite the efforts of Kenilworth's Stranks who took 3-43, Jono Sparks 3-44 with Kapil Dubey picking up 2-28.

For Khalsa, Singh took 3-23, Deol 2-28, Saroha 2-32 with a wicket a piece for Reddy and Thakur but their efforts narrowly proved to be in vain as obdurate Stranks and Gamble took Kenilworth over the winning line by the narrowest of margins.

Kenilworth 3rd XI v. Overbury

The clean sweep for Kenilworth CC was claimed as the third XI thumped Overbury in their Cotswold Hills Cricket League Division six tie yesterday.

The side posted a superb 202-2 from their 40 overs. Openers Mark Stranks and young Dan Roden put on 79 runs for the first wicket before Josh Charlwood came to the crease to blast an unbeaten 78.

Charlwood teamed up with skipper, Steve Kelley, (23 not out) to share an unbroken third wicket partnership of 113 as they dominated the Overbury bowlers.

Postgate the only one to be rewarded with 2-15 for his efforts.

In reply, the Town side's bowlers ripped through the Overbury line inside 16 overs to leave them bowled out for 43.

Openers Ed Smith and James Sparks ripped through the top order, Smith claiming a fine 4-20 and Sparks 2-19.

It was then left to spinner, Tom Skinner and Matt Dadswell to end the match in quick fashion. Skinner taking 3-1 off his 2.4 overs after Dadswell's solitary over and his 1-0 in a totally one sided affair to extend their lead of the Division.
