A Kenilworth shop is looking to get rid of restrictions which limits when it can sell alcohol on Christmas Day.

One Stop Stores has applied to Warwick District Council to update its premises licence.

The current agreement with the local authority - agreed in October 2024 - only allows the Albion Street business to sell alcohol between 12pm and 3pm and then again from 7pm to 10.30pm on December 25.

If approved, the new arrangement would allow for a blanket 6am to 11pm window for selling booze, seven days a week, 365 days a year.

This includes bank holidays including Good Friday which currently also has a restriction in place on it.

The closing date for residents to have their say on the application is tomorrow (October 1). After this, the council will decide whether to approve the variation or not.

The news comes as plans to turn the One Stop into a Tesco Express were revealed. A timeline for the rebrand is yet to be confirmed.
