Free-scoring Kenilworth Wardens put 13 past Shilton Firsts to maintain their unbeaten start in the newly formed Bermuda Cup.

Shilton, who sit bottom of Coventry Alliance Division Two, had restricted Kenilworth to a 4-2 victory in their Bedworth Cup quarter final last November.

But with Wardens scoring seven in the first half and three of their players hitting hat tricks, the hosts made the most of the gulf in class, much to the delight of first team manager Eamonn Richards.

'We knew there was going to be a gulf in quality but fair play to Shilton, they didn't stop working or running," he said.

"Keeping a third clean sheet in five games is important and it was a good exercise to work with some of the new players on shape off the ball.

"Credit to our lads, it would of been easy to down tools in the second half and step out of gear, but apart from a 10 minute spell at the start of the second half we played properly for the entire game.

Wardens put any chance of an upset to bed quickly when Phil Rudd scored a screamer with the outside of his foot from 20 yards out in the opening minutes.

Luca Valle made it two within 10 minutes from a Matt Clark cross and then Clark himself scored his first Wardens goal from a bullet header after a Richards cross.

Dan Twigger decided to get in on the scoring action and scored a hat trick inside 15 minutes.

This added to a calamitous Shilton own goal from a Butler cross.

Wardens went into the break seven to the good and didn't drop off in the second half.

Butler scored his first goal of the season, Clark another three and Valle netted twice more to complete his hat trick.

The pick of the goals was a 15-pass move started at Wardens right back and finishing with Valle tapping in.

With the final score finished 13-0 Kenilworth Wardens recorded a record win since they restarted four years ago.

"Matt Clark obviously scored four and got three assists and played really well in his second game and it's exciting to see Luca add goals and assists (five goals and three assists in his last three) to his game," Richards added.

"Obviously after two really difficult games in the last two weeks, it was nice to have a free hit of a game. And now means we're top of the Bermuda cup league."
