Football teams from Kenilworth will feature in a six-a-side charity football tournament this weekend in aid of Barnardo's and Zoe's Place.

The tournament, hosted by Stockton Football and Cricket Club, will feature teams from across the Coventry, Rugby, and Leamington leagues.

Kenilworth Wardens and The Engine will both be sending sides across from Kenilworth to take part on Sunday.

With four groups and then a knockout phase, this fourth instalment of the tournament will involve up to 24 teams, with a final and a plate final to be contested.

Following the cancellation of the last two football seasons, the tournament will be the first preseason fixture for most local sides as they look forward to what should be the first complete season since 2018/19.

Sunday's tournament is one of a number of charity events hosted at Stockton. The club, which also has cricket, netball and pétanque teams, has hosted 'The Stockton Charity Cup' on Easter Monday for over a century, with a different beneficiary chosen each year.

The club also regularly hosts charitable coffee mornings and is also planning three charity 11-a-side games for the end of August for various causes.

Football secretary at Stockton Rick Musson said to Nub News: "We want to support the local community as well as the wider community. We have active links with the parish council as well as the local scouts, and we have a real community base.

"We have a diversity of sports at Stockton, and a diversity of people. With the charity events, WI meetings and everything that goes on at the club, Stockton has a real community feel to it."
