Kenilworth Sporting have today announced three new signings as the side prepares for their first season in the Midland Football League Division Two.

Manager Martin Ascroft has welcomed Cameron Welch, James Hughes and Josh Bird to his senior squad today.

Today's signings come after the additions of Joe Wright and Corey Brookes at the end of the 2020/21 season.

Left back Welch is well known to the manager, having played under him and new coach Dan Burke as a youth player at Coventry Sphinx. He was called up to Sphinx's senior squad in August last year.

After signing, Welch said: "After a meeting with Ash [Ascroft] where he told me the plans for the club, it was always going to be Kenilworth moving forward. Its a great set up and I can't wait to get going."

Further defensive security has also been found found in the signing of Hughes from Folly Lane. Having previously played for GNP in the Midlands League Division One "he will bring some valuable experience to our young squad," says Ascroft.

However, the signing of Josh Bird will provide firepower further forward.

Ascroft said: "He is someone that gives us another option in the attacking areas, he has an eye for goal which at any level is a bonus."

The new signings will be looking for a run out this week as Kenilworth Sporting host Hinckley AFC this Friday at Gypsy Lane.
