Kenilworth Cricket Club finished their WCCL season this weekend, with fixtures for the first and second teams against Kenilworth Wardens, and Massey Ferguson respectively.

KCC had two of their Saturday teams in action this weekend. The thirds played their last fixture last weekend, in a friendly against Berkswell.

The firsts and seconds also featured last weekend, against Coventry and North Warwickshire, and Stockton Star respectively.

Kenilworth 1st. XI v. Kenilworth Wardens 2nd. XI

Kenilworth Wardens 2nd. XI 261-6 (45 overs) (20 points) beat Kenilworth 1st. XI 179-10 (39.2 overs) (4 points) by 82 runs in their WCCL South East Group A fixture yesterday.

Wardens gained revenge for their earlier season defeat by Kenilworth to comfortably win the return match on the final day of the League season by 82 runs in the 45 overs a side win/lose fixture.

Shiraz Hussain starred with the bat for the Wardens as he made 104 from the number three spot. The side went on to post 261-6 with Paul Henderson chipping in with 35, Raghavan 28 and Fitzgerald 22.

For the Town side, openers Joe Atkinson took 2-58 and Jono Sparks 2-57, whilst spinners Tom Skinner and Connor Shingler picked up a wicket a piece.

In reply, KCC stuttered to 27-3 and then 69-5 before being bowled out for 179 in the 40th over.

This despite the best efforts of Adam Huxford, who tried in vain to hold the innings together, making a fine unbeaten 83, hitting 12 boundaries in his knock.

Atkinson added 15, Shingler 12 and Adie Sellar 11, but they were the only other players to reach double figures as the run-chase proved too difficult to keep up with.

For the Wardens, Morgan-Jones took 2-31, with four other bowlers a wicket each, whilst there were two run-outs on a day that belonged to Hussain for his century.

Kenilworth 2nd. XI v. Massey Ferguson 2nd. XI

Kenilworth 2nd. XI 274-3 (45 overs) (20 points) beat Massey Ferguson 2nd. XI 183-10 (42.2 overs) (4 points) by 91 runs in their WCCL South East group C yesterday.

The Seconds ended their season with a fine win at their Warwick Road Ground as they beat Massey Ferguson 2nd. XI by 91 runs.

Kenilworth posted a stiff 274-3 with Mark Stranks and Peter Huxford sharing in a 147 run first wicket partnership before Huxford fell for 43.

Dave Smithson then added 51 and shared in a second wicket partnership of 61 with Stranks who was finally out for 74.

Youngster, Shyaan Imam hit an unbeaten 29 when the innings closed.

King took 2-52 for Massey whilst a run-out accounted for the other wicket.

In reply, Gerrard made 44 and King 34 as they held firm posting 63 for Massey's second wicket.

After they fell the side had little more to offer and the target was soon out of reach.

Massey were bowled out for 183 in the 43rd over after losing their last five wickets for only 30 runs.

The wickets were shared around the Kenilworth bowlers, with Imam taking 2-20, James Sparks 2-27, Dave Gamble 2-34, and a wicket each for Danny Boneham and Matt Dadswell to round off the day with a win on the home ground as the League season drew to a close.
