Kenilworth Cricket Club's Sunday friendly side were in action today against Lapworth.

KCC had two sides in action on Saturday, as their seconds beat Massey Ferguson, and their first lost to Kenilworth rivals Wardens CC.

Hoping to right the wrongs of last week's defeat to Leek Wootton, their Sunday friendly hosted nearby Lapworth to make the most of what is left of the summer sun.

Lapworth 150-9 (40 overs) lost to Kenilworth 151-3 (29.3 overs) by five wickets

The Sunday XI's penultimate match of the 2020 season saw them five-wicket victors in their 40 overs a side friendly match with visitors Lapworth.

Lapworth won the toss and elected to bat first, where they posted 150-9.

Ahmar Noor was the top-scorer for Lapworth hitting 47, with Carr 27 and Akhlaq chipping in with 19 for the side's total.

Kenilworth's Matt Dadswell was in very impressive form with the ball taking 2-3 off his eight frugal overs, six of which were maidens.

Dan Horner took 2-16, Henry Curran 2-26 whilst there was a wicket a piece for James Adamson 1-17 and Dan Roden 1-45.

Kenilworth's run chase started well as Curran and Horner put on 81 for the first wicket before Curran fell for 33 (3 x 4, 1 x 6).

Horner went onto make 43 (4 x 4) with side's score on 92 when he departed.

Shyaan Imam posted 13 and Adamson 16 (3 x 4) with the side on the march to victory.

The win was assured in the 30th over, as the home side reached 151-5 with Connor Shingler unbeaten on 16 (4 x 4), after Griffin had taken 2-24, Owen 2-32 and Long 1-21 for Lapworth.
