If you ever wanted to know how a town functions, become the mayor!
You'll meet the most positive people who knit the fabric of the town together at a range of celebratory and community events.
The year began with Mayor Making in May at Kenilworth Castle.
In high summer came the superb Kenilworth Show at Stoneleigh; Kenilworth Carnival in 30 plus temperatures; the wonderful Lions Show in Abbey Fields including the Heritage car procession down Warwick Road plus the evening music festival; and the Rotary Club's Two Castle Run, now in its 39th year.
All attracted big local crowds, putting Kenilworth firmly on the visitor destination list.
The world (theatre) premiere of "Pride and Prejudice" written by Andrew Davies, took place at the Talisman Theatre which also celebrated the building of the new foyer.
To attend our new Kenilworth School Opening in August was amazing.
I want to focus on young people and the Kenilworth Centre and Girl Guiding are my charities, so the town council hosted over a 100 people at two civic events where groups networked and set up new initiatives.
Highlights – the visit of the 4th Beaver Group to the chamber and meeting Kenilworth Town Juniors Netball teams.
Over 80 girls – yes, 80 - and an extraordinary group of volunteer leaders all enjoying fun and friendship as well as healthy exercise on a cold Friday night using the wonderful new sports facilities at the school.
Kenilworth Town Council wishes everyone a Happy New Year!
